The REDONA project has been awarded the 2026 Alimentos de España Award in the Initiative for the Reduction of Food Waste category, presented by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Led by the Universitat Politècnica de València, the International Economics and Development Group, and directed by Norat Roig, REDONA connects food surpluses from wholesale suppliers at Mercavalència with Casa Caridad, promoting their recovery and contributing to a circular economy with a social purpose. The award recognises REDONA’s contribution to reducing food losses and recovering discarded food, helping ensure that food suitable for consumption is given a second opportunity.
